Levin, Who is Jewish . . . Updated
It's common practice among Jew-haters, when trying to gaslight us into believing that they're "only trying to hold Israel accountable," to trot out Jews who either agree with them or are ambivalent. Unfortunately, there are a number of Jews who are willing tools of these hate mongers.
You may have already read this Detroit News article.
Three Republican lawmakers introduced a resolution Monday in the U.S. House to censure and condemn Detroit Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib and other members of the progressive "Squad" over comments critical of Israel.
The text of the censure resolution targets Tlaib and three Democratic colleagues and accuses them of "defending foreign terrorist organizations" and "inciting anti-Semitic attacks across the United States."
The resolution follows a tweet last week by Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar about "unthinkable atrocities committed by the United States, Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan and the Taliban," which referred to probes by the International Criminal Court and was interpreted by some as equating the U.S. and Israel to terrorist organizations.
Omar later clarified her statement after questions were raised by a group of a dozen Jewish Democrats, with Omar saying she wasn't making a "moral comparison between Hamas and the Taliban and the U.S. and Israel."
Republicans have spoken out against Marjorie Taylor (Jewish Space Laser) Greene, and now they're being consistent in speaking out against the Squad's antisemitism. Keep in mind that the Squad is not being criticized over "comments critical of Israel." No Squad member has ever, to our knowledge, actually criticized Israel. It's been a steady stream of venomous demonization and double standards. Outside of a few token statements, Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran have all gotten a pass.
Joining the Republicans in their condemnation are a tiny minority of Democrats. "Questions were raised by a group of a dozen Jewish Democrats." There are more than a dozen Jewish Democrats in Congress, but only twelve were willing to take a stand against the Squad's antisemitism.
Absent from among those twelve is our own Andy Levin. Not only isn't Levin interested in holding the Squad accountable, but:
Tlaib is not alone in defending Omar. Another Michigan lawmaker, U.S. Rep. Andy Levin, D-Bloomfield Township, also has come to her defense, saying Monday that she was calling for accountability.
"I believe it is my duty to raise hard questions like whether we believe in accountability for everyone, inc. friends like Israel & ourselves. No honest observer can say the US didn't commit war crimes in Vietnam, Iraq & Afghanistan," tweeted Levin, who is Jewish.
"Can we really expect to get to a world of peace and justice for all if we are not willing to hold everyone accountable for war crimes & human rights violations? I will continue to join @Ilhan in asking these questions and condemn these attacks against her."
I did a quick Google search, and maybe I should have dug deeper, but I was unable to find any recent condemnations of Hamas by Levin, or demands to hold Hamas accountable for the double war crime of blasting 4300 missiles from heavily populated areas at Israeli civilians - only Israel is condemned. And of course, neither Levin, the Squad, nor anyone in our government. that has resumed funding the Palestinians, has had much to say about the Hamas terror infrastructure that was built under Gazan cities.
Levin will most likely continue his role as a Jew the Jew-haters love to love. He's been doing it for a long time and he seems comfortable in that position. We know from past Levins that he occupies a safe seat, and unfortunately he has a long Congressional career ahead of him.
