Andy, Are You Kidding?
For now, there are still pro-Israel Democrats.
Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, AOC, and other virtue-signaling Democratic hate mongers have been engaging in rage-filled, dishonest, Israel-bashing speeches and tweets. They are outraged that those uppity Jews in Israel are once again successfully defending their country against Hamas, a terrorist organization for which they have a warm spot in their hearts.
Not all Democrats are steamed against those wandering-no-more Israeli Jews though. Some Democrats are still on the side of morality, freedom, and Western values.
Speaking from the floor of the House on Thursday, Rep. Brad Schneider (IL) accused Hamas of “relentlessly attacking Israel, launching more than 1,500 rockets just since Monday targeting Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Be’er Sheva and every community in between.”
Schneider said that his “heart breaks for all the innocents killed and injured.”
Rep. Josh Gottheimer (NJ) reminded legislators that Hamas “is a terrorist organization designated by the United States, dedicated to the destruction of Israel, and which Congress has — and must — condemn for killing innocent civilians, and using women and children as human shields.”
In an emotional speech, Rep. Elaine Luria (VA) recalled the historic reasons for the existence of a Jewish state.
Ok, three. Maybe there are more and they haven't had time to speak to Congress. I have seen other Democratic representatives, Ritchie Torres among them who have come out publicly in support of Israel.
And then there is Michigan's own Andy Levin, who put out a press release that tries to come down on both sides, but has to massage the truth more than a little bit to establish that false moral equivalence that he depends on in order to pretend to be pro-Israel while excusing Rashida Tlaib's antisemitism and remaining in the good graces of IfNotNow. Jeremy Ben-Ami also thinks Andy is swell.
In case you haven't read it yet, we've reprinted it below.
But for your convenience, here is the short version: Peace, moral equivalence, need cease fire, disproportionate response, Judaizing E. Jerusalem, ethnic cleansing, settlements, no really I am pro-Israel, more moral equivalence, not only Israel's but also Trump's fault, meaningless blather.
