US Congresswoman-elect Tlaib to wear ‘Palestinian dress’ at swearing-in
U.S. Congresswoman-elect Rashida Tlaib (D., Mich.) announced that she will wear a traditional Palestinian gown when sworn into Congress in January.
Tlaib, of Palestinian-Arab origin, posted a photo of the embroidered gown on Instagram with the caption: ” Sneak peek: This is what I am wearing when I am sworn into Congress. #PalestinianThobe #ForMyYama (mother in Arabic).”
Rashida Tlaib is obvious very proud of her Palestinian identity, and has gone on at length about it. Upon winning her election as a Congressional representative, she chose to pose with a Palestinian flag, not an American flag.
“My strength comes from being a Palestinian,” she declared after her victory, wrapped in a Palestinian flag rather than the Stars and Stripes.
The only reason we are mentioning this is because no Jew could ever get away with this. One of the historic anti-Semitic charges against Jews (today against Zionists, even though the people making the charge mean "Jew") is that of dual loyalty. Added to that are warnings against the nefarious "Israel Lobby." The people who today make those charges against Jews will continue to remain silent on Tlaib. We certainly are not going to make that charge against Tlaib. Neither are we going to engage in speculation about a "Palestinian Lobby."
We just wanted to point out the double standard.
