Canary Mission Exposes SJP anti-Semitism at Wayne State University

As if this was a surprise to anyone, Canary Mission, the organization that has taken on the thankless job of exposing anti-Semitism and anti-Semites, has found quite a bit of old-fashioned Jew-hatred right here at Detroit's own Wayne State University among members of Students for Justice in Palestine. You should read the entire report. There are links to exposes on individual SJP members, bringing to light anti-Semitic tweets, and other social media posts.

Canary Mission investigated anti-Israel activists from the campus group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) at Wayne State University (WSU), in March 2018.

13 officers and activists with SJP WSU were discovered to have spread a wide variety of hatred against Jews, Israel and the United States on social media, including:

  • Cursing Jews in both English and Arabic

  • Praising terrorism

  • Spreading incitement

  • Comparing Israel to Nazi Germany

  • Accusing Israel of committing another Holocaust

  • Claiming former President Bush was behind the 9/11 terror attacks

SJP WSU as an organization was found to have shown support for terrorists, denied the Jewish historical connection to Israel and promoted theBoycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Just so you get an idea of the hatred being espoused by a self-proclaimed justice group, here is some of what Canary Mission found on campus SJP president, Mayssa Masri:

Anti-Semitic Conspiracy Theories

On June 24, 2015, Masri tweeted: “We need to open our eyes to who controls the media. We need to open our eyes to #WhiteSupremacy and #Zionism." On the same day, Masri tweeted: “There are more Jewish terroristsin the U.S than Muslims. Have you ever seen a headline that read ‘Jewish terrorist’? EVER?"

Comparing Israel to Nazi Germany

On March 24, 2015, Masri tweeted: “What Israelis are doing to Palis is just as bad as the holocaust. Except it's lasted for decades against Palis and who knows when it'll end." On April 9, 2017, Masri posed with fellow SJP WSU officers in a Facebook photo before a mock Israeli security wall that featured a call to boycott Israel and a quote associating Israel with Nazi propaganda methods.

On April 9, 2017, SJP WSU officers posed for a Facebook photo before a mock Israeli security wall that featured a call to boycott Israel and a quote associating Israel with Nazi propaganda methods. The “separation wall" bore a quote often attributed to Nazi Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels: “If you repeat a lie enough times, it becomes the truth." SJP WSU revised the quote, by replacing the word “truth" with the word “politics" and then crossed out “politics" and substituted the word “Israel," written with blood dripping from the letters. Below the quote appeared the hashtag: “#BOYCOTTISRAEL." The quote embodied an anti-Semitic idea known as the “Big Lie," which was usedby Nazi Germany to demonize Jews and to promote the boycott of Jewish businesses." SJP WSU used the wall as early as March 2016.

There is much more. Take some time and read the whole report - or as much as you can stomach once you begin to understand the level of anti-Semitism in our own backyard.

Another problem that has raised its head recently is that some Jews don't understand the danger and are critical of Canary Mission. Here is a link to a spirited defense of Canary Mission and their tactic of exposing Jew-haters using their own words and posts.
