More Anti-Semitism from Ilhan Omar

Rep. Ilhan Omar is at it again. It might be due to the lingering effects of past hypnosis, but she once again is out making anti-Semitic tweets. Not only are these tweets anti-Semitic, but it’s some of the same old anti-Semitism that been thrown around in the past. You know the kind; AIPAC buying Congress, hook-nosed Jews, that kind of thing.

The tweets began after a writer for the Intercept, Glenn Greenwald, posted a story about Rep. Kevin McCarthy “threatening punishment” of Rep. Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) “over their criticisms of Israel.” (As CNN’s Jake Tapper noted, McCarthy’s comments were actually directed at “what he sees as anti-Semitic rhetoric from Reps. Omar and Tlaib.”)

Rep. Omar responded to Greenwald’s post with, “It’s all about the Benjamins baby”:

(Maybe this controversy will help Glenn Greenwald understand the difference between anti-Semitism and “criticisms of Israel.”)

Omar, as anti-Semites do, took it even further.

Using a predictable tactic to defend her indefensible anti-Semitism,

In response to the escalating anger over her tweets, Rep. Omar said she’s the victim of “smears.”

Of course, only an idiot or someone who agrees with her would buy that steaming pile of nonsense. Now she’s being condemned by politicians on both sides of the aisle. Even the ADL has jumped in. Some prominent people are on Omar’s side though.

David Duke, and Ilhan Omar, two sides of the same Judeophobic coin.

And the BBC headline, on their report, reads,

Ilhan Omar: Congresswoman accused of 'anti-Semitic' tweet

The scare quotes are understandable once one has read enough of their "reporting" on Israel.

Congressional Democratic leadership released a statement:

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Majority Whip James E. Clyburn, Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Luján, Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries and Caucus Vice Chair Katherine Clark issued this joint statement condemning anti-Semitic comments made over Twitter by Congresswoman Ilhan Omar:

“Anti-Semitism must be called out, confronted and condemned whenever it is encountered, without exception.

“We are and will always be strong supporters of Israel in Congress because we understand that our support is based on shared values and strategic interests. Legitimate criticism of Israel’s policies is protected by the values of free speech and democratic debate that the United States and Israel share. But Congresswoman Omar’s use of anti-Semitic tropes and prejudicial accusations about Israel’s supporters is deeply offensive. We condemn these remarks and we call upon Congresswoman Omar to immediately apologize for these hurtful comments.

“As Democrats and as Americans, the entire Congress must be fully engaged in denouncing and rejecting all forms of hatred, racism, prejudice and discrimination wherever they are encountered.”

And yet, Pelosi is letting Omar keep her position on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, proving that this statement is just a bunch of empty words. Prediction: These are not the last anti-Semitic comments we will hear from Rep. Omar. It is part of what she is.
